What are good maintenance practices for the Kform Project Manager? PDF Print E-mail
  • The kform.mdb (kform database) should be backed up daily.
  • All computers must have uninterruptible power supplies to prevent damage to computers, operating systems, and applications in event of power failure, brownouts, and power surges.
  • When utilizing a peer to peer network, the “server” computer – CANNOT be rebooted if ANYONE is accessing ANY shared application.  In a Server / Client network configuration the server CANNOT be rebooted if ANYONE is accessing ANY files or applications from the server.
  • The file server and workstation should have up to date service packs and updates.
  • The Compact/Repair Database feature should be run from the Kform Project Manager Utilities Menu on a routine basis – at least once a month.  This is preventative maintenance to repair small database defects before they cause a corrupt database and also compacts the database to provide a small and faster database.
  • Remove or upgrade any errant programs or files from workstation and the file server.
  • Make sure all network cables are safe from being accidentally dislodged and are in good condition.  Network cables that are dislodged from the computer, hub, network port etc. while applications are running will cause damage to application files.
  • Run disk utility programs such as disk defragmentation on all workstations and servers on a routine basis.
