What are the business benefits of implementing Kform Project Manager?

Companies may anticipate that capital investments will add functionality, enabling the business to incorporate new task they could not accomplish before or enabling them to perform more difficult tasks.  Companies may use accounting software, word processing, or specialized applications such as manufacturing CAD/CAM programs.  These applications are utilized by specific individuals and departments.  Kform PM is designed to manage and improve the overall performance of an entire business by providing vital information such as where money is being gained or lost.

Business metrics are part of the strategy Kform PM uses to gather, store, analyze, and provide information to assist companies in making better business decisions.

One of the chief responsibilities of Jane at Company ABC was to gather the time cards from all the employees from the previous day.  She then transferred the information from the time cards onto individual job sheets.  Once a week, Jane gathered the time clock sign-in / sign out cards.  She figured each days sign in / out time for each employee to the nearest quarter hour then totaled up each card.  In all, it took Jane an average of 15-20 hours a week to perform these tasks for the 25 employees at Company ABC.

    • Employees often lost their time cards.
    • They neglected to fill out their time cards during the day and waited until the clean up bell rang to
remember what they had done all day and for how long.
    • Job time could be only be configured in increments of quarter hours
    • Employees were confused about splitting time when working on two jobs simultaneously
    • There was no method to check employee sign in / out time against job time
    • To obtain the job hours expended to date required:
    • Locating the job time sheet in the filing cabinet – If someone else had the job time sheet or the job time
sheet was missing or misfiled no information could be obtained.
    • The hours spend on each job operation were then totaled and multiplied by the hourly operation rate.
    • The operation summary amounts were then total.  The fixed costs and materials added in the cost.
Then the total was divided by the quantity of parts been made.
    • For one brief moment, the cost of the part was configured.
    • There was no easy to compare the various times the part had been made to make optimal price
      adjustments.
    • Quotes were created for the same part each time as a guesstimate instead of being based on
      factual information.
    • Productivity between employees could not be quantified.
    • Maybe the last location of the part could be ascertained when all the time card information had been
posted, but that was yesterday. where was the part that day?
    • Totaling job hours and material costs took management numerous hours each week.  Management
expended additional hours locating jobs on the production floor.  There was no consideration given
to job scheduling.  Company ABC considered themselves to be fortunate; their nearest competitor
Company XYZ did not even use manual time sheets.  Supervisors at Company XYZ kept everything
in their heads.  Company ABC came to the realization that they needed a solution to measure
performance and improve the business by making educated decisions.  Company ABC installed Kform PM.

The time clock sits unused on the wall gathering dust.  Jane does not collect and total the sign in / out time cards once a week. Employees sign in and out using Kform PM.  Sign in / out hours are automatically configured to the hundredth of an hour for any time period necessary.  Jane does not collect the daily time cards and transfer the information to job time sheets.  Employees scan on job operation and automatically accrue job time.  Jane now has more time to expend on other tasks while at the same time efficiency and access to information has dramatically improved.

  • • Employee’s time cards are never lost
  • • Scanning on jobs during the day is simple.  Employees never need to calculated time spend on
    •   any job operations.
  • • Job time is automatically configured in increments to the nearest hundred of an hour.
  • • Employees can be given privileges to scan and work on two jobs simultaneously.  Job time is
    •   automatically accrued to each individual job.
  • • Time Management reports detail employee sign in / out time against job time and display
    •   efficiency ratings.

Obtaining the job hours expended is simple:

    • Use the Goto button in the Job Module to navigate to the desired job record.
    • Click on the Quick Report Shown button.
    • The Job Standard report displays detailing the job cost in real time.
    • The program performs all the calculations and displays the Shop Cost Ea. the actual cost to
date.  All timelog records and fixed cost and materials display in detail.
    • Using your login, access to job information is available at any workstation on the network.

After completion of a job, estimated hours and pricing and can be compared and analyzed against actual hours accrued.

Adjustments can be made to pricing and to employees running the parts to optimize costs.  Companies are not in business to lose money or over-charge customers

Quotes are generated using history information for the same part or a similar part.  No starting from scratch each time a quote needs to be created.

Productivity of employees can be quantified in detailed by a number of Job Module and Time Management Module reports.

In conjunction with the Time Tracking Module’s Location feature, the Job Module displays the current whereabouts of a job – whether it is active or in-active.

A few clicks in the Time Management Module and report displays on all active operations on the production floor.

Individual job operations can be scheduled, an entire job can have schedule job operations, or a job can be scheduled simply using a Due Date.

Department load, the amount of work located in department on the production floor, can be easily examined for overloads and bottlenecks.

Company ABC is so pleased with the results they have decided to implement other Kform PM Modules such as Purchase Order, Inventory, and Tool Room to further improve their overall business performance.
